AMERICAN IDOL “The Top 7 Performs” Review April 14, 2009 American Idol, Reviews The top 7 performed tonight on AMERICAN IDOL Season 8. All I can say is that Adam and Kris are still running the show. But let’s find out how everyone did. Allison Iraheta Song: “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith Thoughts: I know the judges liked it and I usually like her too, but tonight was a little disappointing to me. Rating: 2/4 ___________________________________________ Anoop Desai Song: “Everything I Do I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams Thoughts: One of my favorite song of all time (I’m a huge Bryan Adams fan), so of course this could go either really well or really badly. I thought Anoop did a really good job. The man has a really nice voice. Rating: 3/4 ___________________________________________ Adam Lambert Song: “Born To Be Wild” by Steppenwolf Thoughts: Once again, Adam Lambert blows the competition out of the water. That was pretty incredible. Funny enough, I had a friend over who had never seen the show and while he wasn’t that impressed with the first two, here is what he said about Adam “Yeah, he’s ready.” Rating: 4/4 ___________________________________________ Matt Giraud Song: “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?” by Bryan Adams Thoughts: Another Bryan Adam song, and Matt singing it, this was bound to be good. I don’t really agree with the judges, I thought Matt did pretty good. Rating: 4/4 ___________________________________________ Danny Gokey Song: “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie & Diana Ross Thoughts: Would you look at that, Danny Gokey without glasses…I don’t know which one I like better. As for the performance, well Danny always sounds the same to me. It was just ok. Rating: 2/4 ___________________________________________ Kris Allen Song: “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová Thoughts: OMG I love this song, and Kris was amazing, dare I say it I even liked his performance tonight better than Adam. Wow. But I do wonder if it would have even been better with the guitar. I don’t know what Randy was listening to, seriously, this was brilliant. Rating: 4/4 ___________________________________________ Lil Rounds Song: “The Rose” by Bette Midler Thoughts: Well, Lil Rounds continues to be uninspiring to me. And her talking back to Simon was frankly annoying. Rating: 2/4 ___________________________________________ So now picking the bottom three is getting harder and harder. I would put Lil Rounds, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey. But I would send Lil Rounds home. I guess we’ll find out who’s going home tomorrow night.
