Here is a list of the new TV DVD Releases for the week of March 24 2009 (for movie releases head over to Daemon’s Movies):

Must Buy

In Treatment (Season 1)

Synopsis: In Treatment is a Golden Globe Award winning HBO drama, produced and developed by Rodrigo Garcia, about a psychotherapist, Dr. Paul Weston, and his weekly sessions with his patients.

Cast: Gabriel Byrne, Melissa George, Blair Underwood, Mia Wasikowska, Embeth Davidtz, Josh Charles, Dianne Wiest, Michelle Forbes, Mae Whitman, Jake Richardson, Max Burkholder

Recommendations: This is one of the best shows that I have watched in a while, among one of my favorites. Gabriel Byrne does an amazing job and each of the actors playing the patients are as brilliant. I do realize the show is not for everyone, but if you have any interest in psychology then you should definitely want to check this one out.

Recommendations: If you haven’t seen this brilliant show (which was unfortunately not renewed for a third season), you need to rent it now), and if you have seen the first season, then it’s time for you to get the second so that you can find out all the crazy stuff that happens to Dhalia and Wayne and their family.

Every Second Counts

Synopsis: Every Second Counts tells the story of Brooke Preston (Magda Apanowicz), a 17 year-old girl, who competes in the highly-skilled sport of team penning. Her father, Joe (Stephen Collins) loves to watch her compete and thinks that she could become a champion, just like he could have, if it wasn’t for an injury that forced him to retire.
But while he dreams of competition for Brooke, she dreams of going to college and becoming a veterinarian. Unfortunately, some events change both their plans when the family is in danger of losing their home. Brooke is left with the hard decision of taking things into her own hands to save the day.

Cast: Stephen Collins, Barbara Williams, Magda Apanowicz

Recommendations: I reviewed Every Second Counts when it first aired on the Hallmark Channel and remember really liking it. So now that it’s out on DVD I suggest that you at least rent it. It’s a great movie for all the Hallmark lovers.

Hell Will Freeze First

Runaway (The Complete Series)

Synopsis: Runaway chronicles the life of the Raders, an average middle-class American family who just moved to Bridgewater, Iowa from Potomac, Maryland. Although they may look like the perfect family neighbors see every day in their lives, the Raders are also a family with a secret: they are frequently on the run from the law. That’s because Paul Rader, the patriarch of the family, was convicted for a crime that he didn’t commit. But there is also another reason for trying to keep his family together: they are also hunted by the real killer, who had made good on targeting his family, especially his children. These two reasons alone are enough for Paul to seek out the evidence that will clear him and end the nightmare that put him and his family in hiding from the justice system, which seeks to capture him and the person who framed him.

Cast: Donnie Wahlberg, Leslie Hope, Dustin Milligan, Sarah Ramos, Nathan Gamble, Karen Leblanc, Susan Floyd

Recommendations: I remember watching the first episode of Runaway, but just didn’t like it. I never watched it after that. Actually, the show didn’t last very long either.
