Review: Showtime’s SECRET OF DIARY OF A CALL GIRL Season 2 Premiere

Billie Piper as Hannah (aka Belle) in Secret Diary of a Call Girl

After the premiere of United States of Tara (you can read our review here) tonight Sunday, January 18, Showtime will premiere the second season of SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL, at 10:30pm.

If you remember when we last saw Belle, she was starting her own business by launching her website. In the premiere episode, it seems that Belle is still going strong. She is actually taking on a girl named Bambi (Ashley Madekwe) under her wings and accepts to train her in the call-girl business.

I watched Season One of Secret Diary of a Call Girl one episode after another, I couldn’t stop, it was such a compelling show. Plus, I was already a fan of Billie Piper from Doctor Who, so it was great to see her in a show of her own.

And now, I am glad to say that so far Season Two is as good as season one. I started watching the first episode and before I knew it, I had watched four. Also the fact that each episode is only a half-hour long makes them such an easy watch.

Callum Blue as Alex in Secret Diary of a Call Girl

The best addition to the cast this season is Callum Blue (Dead Like Me, The Tudors), who plays Alex, a love interest for Belle (well, really Hannah) this season. And as you might guess, the way Hannah starts to feel about him could jeopardize her work as Belle. I mean how do you tell your new boyfriend that you’re an escort, right?

If you liked season one of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, I would highly recommend that you do not miss season two. You’ll be glad to find that it still has the high quality writing and acting that we have come to expect from season one.

Don’t miss the second season of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Sundays at 10:30pm on Showtime.

Synopsis: “Episode 1” – Belle (Billie Piper) returns as the charming, high-class call girl who is every man’s fantasy by night and by day leads as seemingly ordinary life as “Hannah” to her friends and family. While out on a normal “appointment,” Belle mistakes an attractive man at a hotel bar for her client. When she realizes the mix-up, she meets her “actual” client who turns out to be more than she bargained for. New girl on the block Bambi (Ashley Madekwe) reaches out to Belle, who reluctantly does out the realities of the business. Bambi repays her by hastily taking matters into her own hands. Unable to get Alex (Callum Blue), the attractive man she met at the bar, out of her mind, Belle decides to take a risk by accepting his call.
