THE STARTER WIFE “The Forty Year Old Virgin Queen” & “he Diary of a Mad Ex-housewife” (Season 1 Episode 1 – 2) Early Review

The Starter Wife - Debra Messing

Molly (Debra Messing) is back! Because THE STARTER WIFE miniseries was such a success, USA decided to make it a full blown series.

The 2-hour premiere airs tonight at 9pm on USA and you can’t miss it.

If you loved the miniseries, then you will be happy to know that Molly and her gang are back with the exception of Cricket, who is replaced by a new friend, Liz, played by Danielle Nicolet.

I am also sorry to say that Sam is gone as well (you can now see the actor who portrayed him, Stephen Moyer on HBO’s True Blood).

The Starter Wife - David Basche, Debra Messing

Kenny is still around, but is now portrayed by David Basche, who does a really good job if you ask me.

Originally I didn’t think I was going to like The Starter Wife, but when I watched the premiere of the miniseries, I was hooked. And now that I have seen the first two episodes of the first season, I am once more hooked. They were able to keep the excitement from the miniseries, which made the premiere a fun two hours to watch.

This season, now that Molly is once again single, she meets a new love interest, Zach, portrayed by Hart Bochner. Their first scene together is during Zach’s writer’s workshop and something pretty funny happens. Let’s just say that Molly wrote a children’s book and the writer’s workshop is rated R.

This season Rodney gets a love interest as well, Felix, an actor who is in the closet. And let me tell you, there is going to be a lot of sexual tension between these two.

The Starter Wife - Daniel Gerroll, Judy Davis

As for Joan, she needs to take care of a drunken British movie star, David Shea (Daniel Gerroll), who gets busted for drunk-driving, as part of her rehabilitation. Expect some pretty great scenes between these two as well.

And let’s not forget Kenny. I cannot even describe all the crazy situations he gets himself into. Sometimes it really feels like he doesn’t think before he acts.

Quite a few things happen during these two hours. I don’t want to say much more, but I will end with this. After watching the two episodes, I was left standing there going “that’s it? I want to see more.”

Don’t forget to tune in tonight, October 10, at 9pm on USA and watch The Starter Wife.
