Review: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE “Top 12 Performs” July 9, 2008 Reviews, So You Think You Can Dance And then there were 12! That’s right we are already down to 12 dancers on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, so let’s find out how they did. Chelsie Hightower & Mark Kanemura #1 Salsa Choreography: Alex Da Silva Music: “Fuego” by Joe Bataan Thoughts: I don’t know if it’s because I like salsa, but I really liked this performance. I can’t say whether Mark was too stiff though because my eyes were pretty much on Chelsie the whole time, she looked so good (the dancing and the costume too!). Rating: 3/4 Video: #2 Broadway Choreography: Tyce Diorio Music: “I’m A Woman” from Smokey Joe’s Cafe (Original Soundtrack) Thoughts: I really liked that performance, and as a fan of Broadway, it was really fun to watch. They both totally got into character and it was a good performance. Rating: 3/4 Video: Comfort Fedoke & Thayne Jasperson #1 Hip Hop Choreography: Tabitha & Napoleon Music: “Can We Chill” by Ne-Yo Thoughts: I don’t know why the judges were so hard on them, I actually thought they did good. And Thayne was keeping up with Comfort pretty well. Although I am afraid they might be in the bottom again. Rating: 2/4 Video: #2 Contemporary Choreography: Mandy Moore Music: “A Different Corner” by George Michael Thoughts: I have to totally agree with Mia Michaels on this one. She said exactly what I was thinking. I was just not feeling Comfort, but I noticed how good Thayne was and I just wish he had had another partner who would have related to him more. Other than that, the choreography was beautiful. Rating: 2/4 Video: Jessica King & William Wingfield #1 Contemporary Choreography: Tyce Diorio Music: “Silence” from Unfaithful (Soundtrack) Thoughts: Well first of all, this looks like it’s a lot more fun to do than to watch. It was very beautiful as a piece and Will and Jessica were amazing of course. I will say though that I was a little bored at some point. Overall, though it was great. Rating: 4/4 Video: #2 Quickstep Choreography: Tony Meredith & Melanie Music: “Bandstand” by Barry Manilow Thoughts: I really liked the performance, but I agree that it wasn’t that great technically. You could tell that they were a little bit awkward. Rating: 2/4 Video: Courtney Galiano & Gev Manoukian #1 Cha Cha Choreography: Pasha and Anya Music: “Don’t Stop The Music” by (The Wideboys Club Mix) Rihanna Thoughts: WOW, these two are on fire! OMG that was so good. And I am so happy to see Pasha and Anya back on the show. Courtney and Gev totally brought it, it was hot! And I actually think they bumped way up on my list of favorite couples with this. Rating: 4/4 Video: #2 Jazz Choreography: Mandy Moore Music: “Standing There” by The Creatures Thoughts: That was such a cool choreography. I really loved it. Gev and Courtney are so good tonight! Rating: 4/4 Video: Kherington Payne & Twitch Boss #1 Krump Choreography: Lil’ C Music: “2 Buck 4 TV” by Tha J-Squad Thoughts: Oh wow, I really loved it. I think this is my favorite Krump routine that I have seen on the show ever. Twitch is wonderful and Kherington held her own up there. And can I just say that it was an awesome choreography from Lil’ C. Rating: 4/4 Video: #2 Smooth Tango Choreography: Jean-Marc Genereux Music: “Assassin’s Tango” from Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Soundtrack) Thoughts: I loved the choreography, but I do feel they didn’t hit it as hard as they could have. It wasn’t as sensual as it needed to be. It really looked like they were exhausted though. Rating: 2/4 Video: Katee Shean & Joshua Allen #1 Viennese Waltz Choreography: Jean-Marc Genereux Music: “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls Thoughts: Can these two do any wrong? Every week constantly they are great, which is why they are my favorite couple. The judges didn’t like it as much as I did, but I didn’t notice the technical things so I can’t talk about that. Overall I thought it was really beautiful. And one last thing, I LOVE that song from The Goo Goo Dolls, which definitely helped in enjoying the performance. Rating: 3/4 Video: #2 Bollywood Choreography: Nakul Dev Mahajan Music: “Dhoom Taana” from Om Shanti Om (Soundtrack) Thoughts: That was so cool! I wasn’t sure about Bollywood, but I loved it! I want to see more. And of course Joshua and Katee were amazing. Rating: 4/4 Video: Overall I thought this was a great night, although I do seem to notice everybody getting tired. As for who’s going to be in the bottom three tomorrow, here are my guesses: Comfort Fedoke & Thayne Jasperson, and the other two are complete guesses, Chelsie Hightower & Mark Kanemura, and Courtney Galiano & Gev Manoukian.
