Early Review: USA Network’s IN PLAIN SIGHT

In Plain Sight

And USA Network strikes once more with another great original TV show, IN PLAIN SIGHT, which premieres on June 1 at 10pm.

I guess you could call it the female version of Burn Notice. It’s witty, smart, and funny. I have already seen the first three episodes and I am sold. This is a great summer show to look forward to.

Mary McCormack plays Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal working in the witness protection program. Her partner Marshall Mann is played by Fred Weller. The rest of the cast includes Lesley Ann Warren who plays Jinx, Mary’s mother who lives with her, Nichole Hiltz who plays Brandi, Mary’s younger sister, Paul Ben-Victor plays Mary and Marshall’s boss, Cristián de la Fuente plays Mary’s on-off boyfriend, and Todd Williams plays the local police detective who regularly crosses paths with Mary.

And the format of the show allows for many guest stars and some to look forward to include Dave Foley, Sherry Stringfield, Percy Daggs III (for “Veronica Mars” fans), Wendell Pierce, and Jane Adams.

It seems that USA Network put all its resources in to making one great show instead of 2-3 average ones. And so this is what happens when a network really works at meeting its tagline. “Characters Welcome,” yes they are.

My favorite character of the show has to be Marshall Mann. We actually got to talk to Fred Weller about the show back at the USA Upfronts, and he was right when he mentioned that the show was a strange mix of comedy, action and drama. His character, Marshall Mann, cracks me up with his dry humor. Actually he should have his own show, how about “The Adventures of marshal Marshall Mann,” who’s with me?

Enough indulging, In Plain Sight is the show that you cannot miss this summer, and seriously what else are you going to watch?
