Review: AMERICAN IDOL “Top 6 Finalists Perform” April 22, 2008 American Idol, Reviews Andrew Lloyd Webber night, I am in heaven! It was about time that AMERICAN IDOL brought some of the wonderful music from the musical theater. Let’s see how the Top 6 did. 1. Syesha Mercado Thoughts: I didn’t know the song she sang, but I thought she did good. Rating: 3/4 Video: 2. Jason Castro Thoughts: I wasn’t sure about the choice of song initially, but wow, he really put some feelings into it. I was so impressed. Does Randy not like Jason Castro? Every week he hates on him. Actually, what is wrong with all the judges? I really loved his performance! Rating: 4/4 Video: 3. Brooke White Thoughts: Little bump there at the beginning. The performance was ok. I didn’t think she really felt the song as much as she could have, especially after what Andrew Lloyd Webber explained about the song. I am afraid that she might find herself in the bottom three again this week. Rating: 2/4 Video: 4. David Archuleta Thoughts: Well, that was totally different from the original version of the song, but you know what, I really loved it, I think it suited him perfectly. Rating: 4/4 Video: 5. Carly Smithson Thoughts: I love that song! “Jesus Christ Superstar” is one of my favorites. I thought Carly did good, not the best of the night, but it was pleasant. Rating: 3/4 Video: 6. David Cook Thoughts: First of all, this was the best of the night! And second of all, when I heard a few days ago that tonight was going to be Andrew Lloyd Webber’s night, I said (and this is freaky) “David Cook should totally sing “The Music of the Night” from the Phantom of the Opera” and he did! And just like I predicted, it was amazing. The fact that I love the song, might have helped as well. Rating: 4/4 Video: So who’s going to be in the bottom 3? I think that all three girls will be in the bottom. That means Brooke White, Syesha Mercado, and Carly Smithson. Let’s find out if I was right tomorrow.
