Review: AMERICAN IDOL – Top 12 Boys February 20, 2008 American Idol, Reviews Wow what a night. AMERICAN IDOL started last night with the top 12 boys performing. So without further ado, here is my review of the night including my thought on each contestant, the song they sang, and my rating. 1. David Hernandez Song: “Midnight Hour” by Curtis King Band get it on Thoughts: He was ok. Nothing to get too excited about, but he’ll still be there next week. Rating: 3/4 Video: 2. Chikezie Eze Song: “More Today Than Yesterday” by Spiral Starecase get it on Thoughts: BORING!! I fast fowarded it. And Chikezie shut the hell up when the judges are talking to you. Don’t interrupt them when they are criticizing you, just take it and say thank you. I really lose respect for contestants that do that. He’s not making the top 12. Rating: 1/4 Video: 3. David Cook Song: “Happy Together” by The Turtles get it on Thoughts: Loved it! Loved the song, loved the performance. He will be back next week for sure. Rating: 4/4 Video: 4. Jason Yeager Song: “Moonriver” by Henri Mancini get it on Thoughts: Boring. I fast forwarded it. To be honest, I just don’t care about him. Another one that’s not making it to the top 12. Rating: 1/4 Video: 5. Robbie Carrico Song: “One” by Harry Nilsson get it on Thoughts: I really like his voice, but the performance was just ok, not great. Rating: 2/4 Video: 6. David Archuleta Song: “Shop Around” by The Miracles get it on Thoughts: He might be young but the kid has got it. (By the way I wrote this before hearing Simon’s comment). I think he’s going to be sticking around. Rating: 3/4 Video: 7. Danny Noriega Song: “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley get it on Thoughts: He has a good voice and performance was ok. I do agree with Simon, though, Danny did not do Elvis justice… at all. He’s going to be around next week though. Rating: 2/4 Video: 8. Luke Menard Song: “Everybody’s Talking” by Harry Nilsson get it on Thoughts: Wow, that was hard to listen to. Pitch was everywhere. Not good, not good. Probably leaving this week. Rating: 1/4 Video: 9. Colton Berry Song: “Suspicious Minds” by Elvis Presley get it on Thoughts: I liked him. It was a pretty good performance, I have to disagree with Simon on that one. I think he has a shot to make it further in the competition, especially if he kills next week. Rating: 3/4 Video: 10. Garrett Haley Song: “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” by Neil Sedaka get it on Thoughts: The choice of song was not the best, it was a little boring, but the voice was good. He’ll probably be there next week. Rating: 2/4 Video: 11. Jason Castro Song: “Daydream” by The Lovin’ Spoonful get it on Thoughts: I don’t remember him from before, but look at him making my favorite list after one song. That guy is great!!! Where did he come from? By the way, what is wrong with Randy? Jason was sooo good. One of the best of the night. Thank you Simon for acknowledging it. Rating: 4/4 Video: 12. Michael Johns Song: “Light My Fire” by The Doors get it on Thoughts: Oh Michael Johns, what can I say except that he is my favorite of the guys. His voice is amazing. Definitely making top 12. Rating: 4/4 Video: And just because I loved his Bohemian Rhapsody performance, here it is again. Song: Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen get it on So who do I think is going home? Luke Menard & Jason Yeager The best of the night were: Michael Johns, Jason Castro, & David Cook.
