News: Casting – FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS & DRAGONBALL November 17, 2007 Friday Night Lights, News There are some news in the casting department: Matt Czuchry (better known as Logan in Gilmore Girls) has been cast as a new character on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. He will play a devout Christian, according to Michael Ausiello. He will be introduced through Lyla who will be a guest on his Christian radio show. We will first see Matt Czuchry in episode 12. I guess this is not exactly TV related, since it’s casting for a movie, but because the movie is based on the TV series Japanese manga DRAGONBALL, which I used to love when I was younger, I wanted to mention it. According to Variety, Twentieth Century Fox is making a movie from the famous Japanese manga Dragonball, and who have they cast in it so far: Justin Chatwin, whom you might have seen in movies such as War of the Worlds and The Invisible, as well as Showtime’s Weeds, will play Goku “a powerful warrior who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name.” And James Marsters, better know as Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, will play Piccolo, the film’s villain. Funny because I remember that Piccolo ended up being a good guy in Dragonball, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. As for me, I am oddly really looking forward to the Dragonball movie. Dragonball was one of my favorite TV series when I was younger, so it will be fun to see what they make of it. Although, if you look at Hollywood’s history of making comics into movies, it’s not too reassuring. Still, I am a hopeful person, so yay for Dragonball the movie!
