Friday Night Reviews: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

Friday Night Lights - Jason Street (Scott Porter)

Last episode of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, “Bad Ideas,” was even better than the second season premiere. Friday Night Lights is one of the most brilliant TV shows on Television. I cannot even put into words how amazing every part of the show is.

Here are some of my thoughts which will contain spoilers if you haven’t seen the episode yet.

Connie Britton is freaking amazing! I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. I mean the whole hospital scene when she is talking on the phone with Coach Taylor and you can see she is trying to hold in the tears and then finally breaks down when she hangs up. It felt so real. Seriously, she made me cry.

Jason Street telling Tami his dream about her and how she made him walk. This was such a great scene and just little things like Jason mentioning that now he can make a fist, which he couldn’t before, add so much to the story and make us feel so much closer to the characters.

I have to mention the sexual tension between Lyla and Riggins when they get her dad home. It definitely looks like things are not over between them. That kiss on the cheek will eventually lead to more, I am telling you.

Julie breaking up with Matt, now that was heartbreaking. Poor Matt, he had the saddest, cutest face. The whole thing about her being afraid to turn into her mom, I say “what is wrong with that?!” Of course I understand that she does not see her mom the way we see her.

Landry and Tyra’s first kiss! Go Landry, all it took was for him to kill for her… I did like Tyra’s line “I wish I was the one who killed him.”

The new nurse for Matt’s grandma played by Daniella Alonso (whom you may remember as Anna on One Tree Hill) made quite an impression on me. I actually like her. And now that Matt is a free man, I’m thinking something might happen between these two.

Finally I would like to mention next week’s preview: It looks like Coach Taylor is coming home to Dillon and Julie is getting out of control. Maybe she should have stayed with Matt.
