Welcome to the DEXTER train!

Last season when DEXTER started I initially wanted to take a look at it, especially since Six Feet Under had just ended. But with all the new shows starting, I never got the chance to watch an episode, that is until this summer. I decided to give Dexter a shot.

At first I thought Dexter was pretty good, but I didn’t think I was going to add the second season to my schedule, I was rather going to wait until the DVD for season two came out. Why? Because I liked Dexter enough to watch it during the summer when the craziness of the fall was over but not enough to want to tune in and watch it every week. Basically, I could wait. That all changed.

The more episodes I watched, the more I liked Dexter. When I finally got to the third DVD (out of four), I was hooked. When the last episode of the third DVD ended I almost screamed, it was such a cliffhanger. I had to wait a few days to get the final DVD with the final episode. And it was so worth the wait. I am now officially hooked on Dexter and will be watching the new season when it starts Sunday. How cool is it that I only have to wait 2 days to see the second season?

If you don’t know what Dexter is, let me explain, it’s a story about a serial killer who only kills other serial killers, so really he is a good guy; a good guy with an antisocial personality disorder. Still not convinced? What if I tell you the actor who portrays Dexter is Michael C. Hall (who played David Fisher in Six Feet Under) and that he is absolutely brilliant in the part. I have a whole new respect for him. Another cast member you might be interested in is Julie Benz who the Buffy and Angel fans know better as Darla. She plays such a different character in Dexter though, it’s really refreshing.

One of the most interesting things about Dexter, at least for me, is the whole idea that such a person was “trained” to use his urges for good. I don’t want to reveal too much for those who haven’t discovered the show yet, but it is very different from other shows out there. You should definitely take a look at Dexter, I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

For those already hooked, the second season of Dexter starts this Sunday at 9pm on Showtime. And if you can’t wait until then to watch the season premiere, thanks to a tip from the TV Addict, you don’t have to. Season 2 Episode 1 “It’s Alive”

Written by Daniel Cerone
Directed by Tony Goldwyn

Description: After killing his brother Brian, the Ice Truck Killer, at the end of last season, Dexter (MICHAEL C. HALL) now finds himself unable to kill again. He certainly wants to, and in fact needs to, but he is unnerved by feelings he can’t understand. Drifting from the “Code of Harry,” Dexter goes after a particularly dangerous victim named Little Chino (TBD) in order to regain his old form – with disastrous results. After nearly being killed by the Ice Truck Killer, Debra (JENNIFER CARPENTER) returns to work at Miami Metro PD, but shows signs that she may not be ready to resume duty just yet. Meanwhile, Dexter’s biggest secret is about to surface for all the world to see.
