59th Primetime Emmy Awards: Daemon’s TV Picks September 16, 2007 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, Daemon's TV The 59th Primetime Emmy Awards start at 8pm tonight. I used to be really excited about all the award shows, but as time goes by, I care less and less. That doesn’t mean that I won’t tune in, but I might forward through a lot of parts (did I mention I love my DVR?). I have to admit though, I am still sort of excited for tonight’s Emmy Awards. Before the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards show starts, I thought I would do a recap of some the nominees as well as my picks for each category. We’ll see if any of them are right. Here is the list (my picks are in blue): Outstanding Drama Series – Of all four my top has to be Heroes, no doubt. “Boston Legal” – ABC “Grey’s Anatomy” – ABC “Heroes” – NBC “House” – Fox “The Sopranos” – HBO Outstanding Comedy Series – I really only watch two of the five shows (Ugly Betty & The Office), so my pick has to be The Office. “30 Rock” – NBC “Entourage” – HBO “The Office” – NBC “Two And A Half Men” – CBS “Ugly Betty” – ABC Outstanding Made For Television Movie – I have only seen one out of all the nominees so I guess that’s my pick by default, The Ron Clark Story (although I did add Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee on my Netflix queue). “Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee” – HBO “Inside The Twin Towers” – Discovery Channel “Longford” – HBO “The Ron Clark Story” – TNT “Why I Wore Lipstick To My Mastectomy” – Lifetime Outstanding Miniseries – Again, I have only seen one, The Starter Wife, and loved it, so that’s definitely my choice. “Broken Trail” – AMC “Prime Suspect: The Final Act (Masterpiece Theatre)” – PBS “The Starter Wife” – USA Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series – It’s really between Kiefer Sutherland and Hugh Laurie, but I think I’ll go with Hugh Laurie as my choice this year. Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer – “24” James Spader as Alan Shore – “Boston Legal” Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House – “House” Denis Leary as Tommy Gavin – “Rescue Me” James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano – “The Sopranos” Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series – I think Kyra Sedgwick definitely deserves that one, after all the good things I keep saying about her this shouldn’t come as a surprise. If she doesn’t get it, I am also rooting for Patricia Arquette because I love her in Medium. Sally Field as Nora Walker – “Brothers & Sisters” Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson – “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” Patricia Arquette as Allison Dubois – “Medium” Kyra Sedgwick as Dep. Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson – “The Closer” Minnie Driver as Dahlia Malloy – “The Riches” Edie Falco as Carmela Soprano – “The Sopranos” Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series – Steve Carell, is that even a question? Although, I do have a soft spot for Ricky Gervais. I think it’s a tie for both of them. Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy – “30 Rock” Ricky Gervais as Andy Millman – “Extras” Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk – “Monk” Steve Carell as Michael Scott – “The Office” Charlie Sheen as Charlie Harper – “Two And A Half Men” Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series – I have to give that one to America Ferrera who is adorable as Betty in Ugly Betty. Robert Duvall as Prentice ‘Print’ Ritter – “Broken Trail” – AMC Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone – “Jesse Stone: Sea Change” – CBS Jim Broadbent as Lord Longford – “Longford” – HBO William H. Macy as Clyde Umney & Sam Landry – “Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From The Stories Of Stephen King – Umney’s Last Case” – TNT Matthew Perry as Ron Clark – “The Ron Clark Story” – TNT Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie – The only one I have seen out of the five nominees is Debra Messing in The Starter Wife, so my vote goes to her. Queen Latifah as Ana – “Life Support” – HBO Helen Mirren as Jane Tennison – “Prime Suspect: The Final Act (Masterpiece Theatre)” – PBS Mary-Louise Parker as Zenia Arden – “The Robber Bride” – Oxygen Debra Messing as Molly Kagan – “The Starter Wife” – USA Gena Rowlands as Melissa Eisenbloom – “What If God Were The Sun” – Lifetime Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series – This one is a hard one, both Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn are amazing, so my vote goes to them.
