SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE – 2 gone, 10 left July 19, 2007 Reviews, So You Think You Can Dance Elimination Night on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, two more dancers are sent home. Here is our TOP TEN: Kelsey McNeal/FOX ©2007 Fox Broadcasting Co. Quick Thoughts: I am not happy with Hok being sent home tonight! I am tired of judges giving more importance to dancers who are classically trained than b-boys/hip hop dancers. I did not think Hok deserved to go home tonight, he touches me so much more than Danny and Neil ever did. What was the deal with Mary saying she won’t send Anya and Danny home before she even saw their solo? Talk about favoritism. Aren’t the judges supposed to be objective? Does anyone feel Mary is a little out of touch with the people that watch the show? I mean, she doesn’t understand why Anya and Danny were in the bottom three? Well, it’s because people don’t like them very much. It’s not about technique at this point, it’s about personality. Good news is my all-time favorite dancers are SAFE!!! Yay! Opening Number with the top 12 – Fun little routine, not my favorite, but it was entertaining. Choreography: Jean-Marc Genereux Music: “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” by Cami Thompson get it on Video: Opening Dance Week 5 BOTTOM THREE WOMEN: ANYA GARNIS – For once I felt she actually did good. It’s always hard for her to do impressive things because she is a ballroom dancer, so I feel she did the best she could. I don’t think she deserved to go home this week. Music: “Proud Mary” by Ike & Tina Turner get it on Video: Anya Solo Week 5 JAIMIE GOODWIN – I wasn’t too excited but I thought she did really good. She has a great technique and is a great dancer. I’m glad she’ll be sticking around a little longer. Music: “One Moment More” by Mindy Smith get it on Video: Jaimie Solo Week 5 LAUREN GOTTLEIB – To be honest, this was pretty good. I wasn’t expecting Lauren to be that good, but she brought it this week. It was a little weaker towards the end, but all and all she did well. Music: “Walk Away” by Christina Aguilera get it on Video: Lauren Solo Week 5 BOTTOM THREE MEN: DANNY TIDWELL – Danny does so much better when he dances alone. He moved me a little more than usual. I know I should be impressed by all the spins and jumps he does, but I feel they are lacking emotions. Music: “Never Felt This Way” by Brian McKnight get it on Video: Danny Solo Week 5 HOK KONISHI – That guy is just amazing, what he does is so impressive. It’s actually as hard to achieve this as to do as contemporary dancing. The other thing I love about Hok is that he actually dances to the music he picks, which makes it that much more enjoyable to watch. He was my favorite in the bottom three tonight and I will miss him. Music: “Black Devil Car” by Jamiroquai Video: Hok Solo Week 5 NEIL HASKELL – First I would like to say that Neil does have some impressive moves, but here is what I what i meant when I said that Hok actually dances to the music he picks, Neil doesn’t really. I just couldn’t see how his solo fit with his music, it felt more like he was trying to do as many jumps and turns as he could in 30 seconds. Music: “Harder To Breather” by Maroon 5 get it on Video: Neil Solo Week 5 The performer tonight is Enrique Iglesias singing “Somebody’s Me”, get it on I am not a fan of Enrique Iglesias, but this song was sort of nice. ELIMINATED: Kelsey McNeal/FOX ©2007 Fox Broadcasting Co. ANYA GARNIS and HOK KONISHI – So sad, I really wanted Hok to stay. And can I say that although I knew Anya wouldn’t win the competition, I really felt that Lauren should have left before her. If you look at the competition as a whole, Anya did so much better than Lauren did. This is why it always annoys me when the judges decide who goes home, because they don’t really follow who people vote for (how many times do Danny & Anya and Lauren & Neil need to be in the bottom three to get eliminated?). Next week is a whole new show with new partners, we’ll see how they each adapt. Who knows, we might get some surprises… Thank you to Mickeyworld.net for the videos.
