SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE – Top 12 Review

And we’re back.
Tonight is the last time the couples dance together. Starting next week, couples will be drawn randomly every week.

Wade Robson is one of the judges, which means no jazz choreography tonight :-(, but more of Wade 🙂

I thought Wade actually gave very good comments and I mostly agreed with what he had to say (are you surprised?…).

Quick thoughts on tonight’s performance:

  • My favorites: LAUREN GOTTLEIB & NEIL HASKELL and SARA VON GILLEM & PASHA PKOVALEV
  • My least favorite: LACEY SCHWIMMER & KAMERON BINK
  • That is not to say that’s who I am voting for. They were just the best and worse of the night.

My favorite couple is still Sara and Pasha, hopefully they stay around this week.

Tomorrow is going to be tough, you know someone I like is going to leave. That’s why I have mixed feelings about Thursday nights.

    Moving on to the…

    RECAP:

    SABRA JOHNSON & DOMINIC SANDOVALJive

    Choreography: Tony Meredith
Music: “I Do The Jerk” by Ryan Shaw get it on Ryan Shaw - This Is Ryan Shaw - I Do the Jerk
Thoughts: I just love Sabra and Dominic. After week one (where I didn’t really like them), they have moved up on my list to one of my favorites. This performance was so much fun, and you can feel the connection these two have when they dance. It’s beautiful. Rating: 4/5

JAIMIE GOODWIN & HOK KONISHI Broadway

Choreography: Tyce Diorio and assistant, Travis Wall.
Music: “Mr. Bojangles” from Fosse (Original Broadway Cast) get it on Original Broadway Cast - Fosse - Mr. Bojangles
Thoughts: I usually am a fanatic of Broadway, but I didn’t like this routine as much as I thought I would. It seemed like they both sort of danced individually, I didn’t feel they connected as much as they usually do. Like the judges said, Jaimie danced really well, but still, there was something missing to make it great. Rating: 3/5

SARA VON GILLEM & PASHA PKOVALEVJazz

    Choreography: Mandy Moore
Music: “Body Language” by Queen get it on Queen - Hot Space - Body Language
Thoughts: First of all, Sara and Pasha are still my favorite couple. Too bad they won’t be dancing together next week. They have such great chemistry. The routine was very interesting and in a good way. I had to watch it a second time to fully take it in. They have great facial expressions when they dance, they really feel it and have fun. Finally, I just can’t help but wonder what it would have looked like if Wade Robson had worked with them… Oh yeah, I’m working on getting my arms as strong as Sara’s… Push ups here I come… Rating: 5/5

    LAUREN GOTTLEIB & NEIL HASKELLContemporary

    Choreography: Mia Michaels
Music: “Let The Drummer Kick” by Citizen Cope get it on Citizen Cope - Citizen Cope - Let the Drummer Kick
Thoughts: Wow, this is the first time I actually really like Lauren and Neil. I have to say that I give some of the credit to Mia Michael’s amazing choreography. Still, they both did very well. Is it weird that I had a hard time figuring out who was who at the beginning of the routine? Rating: 5/5

    DANNY TIDWELL & ANYA GARNISFoxtrot

    Choreography: Jean-Marc Genereux
Music: “It Had To Be You” by Brian Evans get it on Brian Evans - Brian Evans - It Had to Be You
Thoughts: I liked those two tonight. The dance style is not my favorite so that’s probably why I’m not that excited, but I have to say they were very graceful, and it was a pleasure to watch them. Rating: 4/5

LACEY SCHWIMMER & KAMERON BINKHip Hop

    Choreography: Dan Karaty
Music: “Here I Come” by Fergie get it on Fergie - The Dutchess - Here I Come
Thoughts: Where is the music video-type hip hop? Where is the Wade Robson hip hop? I felt this was “high school” hip hop. Not that exciting. I love hip hop and it’s probably one of my favorite style, but I just didn’t feel this routine really went the distance. It didn’t work for me. By the way, I hate it when judges dismiss hip hop as if it’s not really “dancing.” If you dance hip hop the way it’s supposed to be danced, that sh&# is hard. I guess it was bound to happen, Lacey and Kameron had the weakest performance this week. Rating: 2/5
