New character added on HEROES

Dania Ramirez

A new actor has been cast as one of the new characters on HEROES. The character’s name is Maya, and she will be played by Dania Ramirez, whom you might remember as Callisto from X-Men: The Last Stand. I actually watched X-Men: The Last Stand again recently on HBO, and Callisto is one of my favorites. She also had a recurring role in The Sopranos as Blanca Selgado.

Maya (whose powers are still kept secret) will be one of the five new characters to be added on Heroes in season two this fall.

SuperHeroHype.com also mentioned that:

Maya is one of four to five new characters expected to be added to “Heroes” next season, but her character might be the only regular one. The other roles, most of which are said to have international flavor, include a sexy boyfriend for Claire (Hayden Panettiere), a 28-year-old black mother, a surrogate for Niki’s (Ali Larter) son and an Irish mobster.

As opposed to Lost, where I think adding new characters to the people on the island (excluding the Others) is useless (do I need to remind you of Nikki and Paulo, who I might add were buried alive), Heroes is a show that can benefit from adding different “heroes”. Even though I still like the “original” Heroes, it is nice to get new faces here and there, even if it’s only for a few episodes. Plus there are so many powers that they haven’t explored yet.
