The fan favorite MTV comedy Awkward will be back for its fourth season starting on April 15 with a special one-hour episode.
This time around, though, series creator Lauren Iungerich has left the production with new showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler (both from ’90210′ and the short-lived ‘Cashmere Mafia’) taking over the reins.
‘Awkward’ started out on MTV in 2011, focusing on unpopular 15-year-old Jenna Hamilton (series lead Ashley Rickards) who gained immediate – yet very unwanted – popularity at her high school when the student body believed that an accident at her home was a suicide attempt [it wasn't!]. Since that time the series has focused on the ups and downs of Jenna’s life at high school with her best friends Tamara (series regular Jillian Rose Reed) and Ming (series regular Jessica Lu) as well as her boy drama with on-again, off-again boyfriends Jake (series regular Brett Davern) and Matty (series regular Beau Mirchoff).
This new season of ‘Awkward’ will find even more complications for Jenna now that she is a senior with her enduring more boy trouble, drama with her friends, a new girl in town who has eyes for Matty and even some cat fishing.
Fans need to mark their calendars for the start of the fourth season of ‘Awkward’ on April 15 at 10/9c.
