‘Salem’ Series Premiere Date Announced by WGN America

WGN America is officially in the originals game now. The newly minted network has announced their first original series Salem will premiere Sunday, April 20th. The series rewrites the Salem witch trials, adding a supernatural spin to the gruesome proceedings.

The series is being filmed on location in Louisiana to give Salem an authentic look. Meanwhile, the story will posit that witches were real, they just weren’t who we thought they were. The series stars Janet Montgomery (Made in Jersey) as Mary Sibley, Salem’s most powerful enchantress; Shane West (Nikita) as war veteran John Alden and Mary’s onetime love interest; Seth Gabel (Fringe) as local aristocrat Cotton Mather; Ashley Madekwe (Revenge) as Mary’s accomplice; Xander Berkeley (The Mentalist) as chief politician Magistrate Hale; Tamzin Merchant (Jane Eyre) as Anne Hale, an artist with an attraction to Alden; and Elise Eberle (The Astronaut Farmer) as the mysteriously afflicted Mercy Lewis. About The Author

Sabienna is a freelance writer, pop culture junkie and unabashed fangirl. She blames an early exposure to The X-Files and the Must See TV era of NBC for her twin life-long loves of sci-fi and sitcoms. She's not sure where her all-consuming love for all things British came from, but it led her to Doctor Who so she doesn't complain.
