Episode Synopsis: Bones Season 9 Episode 1 “The Secrets in the Proposal” – In the season premiere of BONES, the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of Jason Siedel, an accountant for the state department, whose remains were found in a hotel air conditioning unit. When Booth finds his old army buddy and CIA agent, Danny Beck (guest star Freddie Prinze, Jr.), clearing away evidence at the victim’s condo, he begins to realize that Siedel’s murder could yield more suspects than the team had anticipated. Booth also seeks out Aldo Clemens (guest star Mather Zickel), his friend and an ex-priest from their military days together, to get advice on his relationship with Brennan, now that Pelant has put a wedge between them. Meanwhile, Brennan must decide whether to have faith in Booth or to end her relationship with him.

Show Summary: BONES, a darkly amusing procedural entering its ninth season, is inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs.

DR. TEMPERANCE BRENNAN (Emily Deschanel) is a highly skilled forensic anthropologist who works at the Jeffersonian Institutein Washington, D.C., and writes novels on the side. When the standard methods of identifying a body are useless (ie. the remains are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed), law enforcement calls on Brennan for her uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the victim’s bones.

While most people can’t handle Brennan’s intelligence, her drive for the truth or the way she flings herself headlong into every investigation, SPECIAL AGENT SEELEY BOOTH (David Boreanaz) of the FBI’s Homicide Investigations Unit is an exception. A former Army sniper, Booth mistrusts science and scientists – the “squints,” as he calls them – who poreover the physical evidence of a crime. But even he cannot deny that the combination of his people-smarts and Brennan’s scientific acumen makes them aformidable duo, both professionally and personally.

Aside from Booth, Brennan is most comfortable with her equally brilliant colleagues at the Jeffersonian’s Medico-Legal Lab. ANGELA MONTENEGRO (Michaela Conlin), an artist who specializes in reconstructing facial features and crime scenes, is Brennan’s earthy and bawdy best friend. Angela is married to and has a son with DR. JACK HODGINS (TJThyne), affectionately known as “the slime and bug guy,” a conspiracy theorist and expert on insects, spores and minerals. DR. CAMILLE “CAM” SAROYAN (TamaraTaylor), the street-smart and centered coroner, must wrangle all the geniuses under her purview. Lending his professional expertise to Brennan and Booth is DR. LANCE SWEETS (John Francis Daley), a brilliant young FBI psychologist who is equally adept at profiling murderers and providing impromptu therapy to his co-workers.

At the conclusion of Season Eight, tech genius and serial killer Christopher Pelant (guest star Andrew Leeds) once again returned to toy with the Jeffersonian team, orchestrating a string ofmurders, all of which involved FBI agents with close ties to Booth. Pelant then set his aim on Sweets, while the team raced to reach Sweets before Pelant did. With Booth having become one of Pelant’s potential targets, Brennan found herself re-evaluating their relationship, resulting in a marriage proposal that Booth happily accepted. But a call from Pelant brought those plans to an endwhen he threatened Booth and forced him to secretly trade his nuptials for the lives of innocent people.

Season Nine will begin with Brennan unable to make peace with Booth’s apparent rejection, remaining unaware of his pact with Pelant. She will question the viability of their relationship, while Booth will be forced to win back her trust without ever revealing the reason for turning her down. If Brennan’s love for him is to survive, Booth ultimately concludes that Pelant must die – a moral conundrum with which he will wrestle throughout the season.

He attributes his love for film to the smash hit THE DARK KNIGHT which has created an (un)healthy obsession with both Christopher Nolan and the Batman franchise. Although he appreciates all genres of film, his favorite movies are typically psychological thrillers, with an emphasis on non-traditional narratives.
