Lifetime to Air ‘Escape from Polygamy’ On August 24

The Lifetime network has announced the premiere date of August 24 for director Rachel Lee Goldenberg’s Escape from Polygamy. The independent film stars Mary McCormack (The West Wing), William Mapother (Justified), Haley Lu Richardson (Shake It Up!) and Jack Falahee (The Carrie Diaries).

‘Escape from Polygamy’ chronicles McCormack as a widow by the name of Leann and her 17-year-old daughter Julina (Richardson). Following the death of her husband, Leann decides to relocate her family to an isolated polygamous compound. It is there that Julina meets Ryder (Falahee), the son of the leader of the compound.

When the leader discovers their love affair, he is determined to destroy it, taking Julina as his wife with the intent of building a new community in Mexico. The plan prompts Ryder and Julina to plot their escape, but the couple’s plan is foiled when Ryder is banished from the compound.

‘Escape from Polygamy’ comes from executive producers Sharon Bordas (Sexting in Suburbia), Fernando Szew (Radio Rebel) of MarVista Entertainment, Nancy Leopardi (Love at the Christmas Table) and Ross Kohn. The film is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg (Love at the Christmas Table) from a script written by Damon Hill (So noTORIous).

The film will air on Lifetime, August 24 at 8pm est.
