In this episode of Royal Pains, called “Can of Worms,” Hank opens up to Evan about the secrets he’s been keeping, while Paige opens up to Evan about a few she’s been keeping from him.
Slowly but surely, we’re moving forward with the Boris storyline. The writers have managed to keep the show basically the same and give us the Hank we love (yay for some Dr. MacGyver in this one!), while still deepening the mystery that is Boris and Milos. Bringing Evan into the secret circle seems like it could end up putting him in danger, especially with his overly snooping nature, but I’m hopeful that Hank will keep his little brother safe. What I’m not quite as sure about is whether or not Hank will keep himself safe while doing so. I have no doubt that Hank would jump in front of a bullet to save Evan if it came to that, I just really hope it doesn’t.
Luckily it looks like Evan is going to be pretty busy, so maybe he won’t have as much time to poke his nose into Hank and Boris’ business. I thought for a minute there that Paige’s lack of enthusiasm would spell an end to his political career, but all it did was just put the project squarely back on Evan’s shoulders. Honestly, I like that better anyway. Not that I don’t love Paige, but I don’t necessarily want to see her holding Evan’s hand and helping him every step of the way. It’s more fun to see Evan stumble and then figure stuff out on his own and if anyone can do it, it’s Evan.
We seem to be getting closer and closer to the point where Jeremiah and Divya could end up a couple. First he seemed to be the only person she could turn to after revealing her pregnancy and now she’s moving in with him? Even if they’re not heading in a romantic area, they certainly seem to be heading toward a co- parenting area. Trouble is, I don’t know if I ever see Divya getting romantic feelings for him, so I just hope Jeremiah is prepared for the day she finds another guy. I don’t think I can put up with another beard from the guy, I really don’t.
My favorite bits..
“I thought you’d be taller.”
“So did I.”
Hank pointing out to Boris that everything would be worth it to get back to actually living again.
Totally learning the difference between Greenland and Iceland from Jeremiah.
Pat screaming louder when he found out that Hank was related to Evan.
“This is going to be uncomfortable.”
“More uncomfortable than getting stabbed by a flying umbrella?”
“I want to make a Penrose drain out of a rubber glove.”
“Of course you do.” – Yeah, ’cause he’s Dr. MacGyver!
Paige stopping herself before saying that everything would “blow over.”
“Could it be Montezuma’s Revenge revenge?”
“Personally, I love intestinal flora, especially this time of year.”
“At least he got it out.”
Evan asking Hank to trust him, for a change.
“That is not what it looks like.”
“It looks like you’re drinking a lot of beer.”
“Then it is what it looks like.”
The General telling Evan he was pleased with him. Of course he had no way to know that Evan was snooping at the time, but whatever.
“This has been a lousy couple days.”
Hank jumping about three feet in the air when Evan pulled out that singing bird pistol.
“Boris already lost his brother. I don’t want to lose mine.”
Everyone turning around when Evan mentioned the “tapeworm diet.” Ew. Ick. Ewww!
Evan realizing that he had just made a patient’s diagnosis.
Jeremiah getting drunk and telling Hank’s entire life story to Shelby. That was awesome.
Todd calling Hank “numb nut.”
Paige finally admitting to Evan that she didn’t want to get dragged down into politics again.
“Need you? No. Want you? Always.”
“Your story is weirdly similar to mine.” – I am so with Hank on that. Why do I feel like she made all that up just to get Hank to sign?
“Is someone hung over?”
“I prefer the term ‘glutamine rebound.’”
