‘Nurse Jackie’ Actress Merritt Wever to Return in ‘New Girl’ Season 3

Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) season two love triangle will carry over into New Girl‘s third season…at least for a couple of episodes.

EW reports two-time Emmy nominee Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie) will reprise her role as Schmidt’s college sweetheart Elizabeth in the season premiere, with at least one more appearance on the horizon after that. At the end of season two, Schmidt found himself faced with choosing between Elizabeth and his ex-girlfriend Cece (Hannah Simone), but he fled before giving either woman an answer. With Wever returning, it looks like it’s going to be crunch time for Schmidt when the season begins, unless Cece and Elizabeth make his choice for him.

Would you like to see Wever stick around for longer than two episodes?

New Girl season three premieres Tuesday, September 17th at 9PM on Fox.
