Season four of the international hit series Downton Abbey is finally adding a little ethnicity to its ranks with the recent casting announcement of British actor Gary Carr. Carr will appear in an as yet unnamed recurring role on the costume drama playing a “charming and charismatic young jazz singer”, joining other new faces (to the series, that is) like Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Tom Cullen, Julian Ovenden, Nigel Harman, Joanna David and Dame Harriet Walter.
‘Downton Abbey’ will be back on PBS sometime in 2014 with eight all-new episodes and there will also be a Christmas 2013 episode set to air with returning cast members Hugh Bonneville, Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery and Jim Carter (among others) as well as a return visit by legendary actress Shirley MacLaine.
The mini-series comes from the creative mind of Julian Fellowes with Gareth Neame, Liz Trubridge and Fellowes acting as executive producers.
Among Carr’s credits are the BBC series ‘Bluestone 42′, ‘Death In Paradise’ ‘Silent Witness’ and ‘Foyle’s War’.
