BBC One’s ‘The White Queen’ Trailer Gives Us A Sneak Peek At A “War That Won’t Be Won On The Battlefield”

BBC One has released a new trailer for their upcoming historical drama, The White Queen featuring knights, ladies fair and all of the other trappings of a good medieval period piece– but you might be surprised to see who is wearing the armor. Check it out below!

Based on Philippa Gregory’s historical novel series The Cousins’ War, The White Queen is set during The War of the Roses and focuses on the women who fought the war without ever setting foot on the battlefield. The series stars Rebecca Ferguson (Wallander), Amanda Hale (Bright Star), newcomer Faye Marsay, Max Irons (The Host) and James Frain (The Tudors).

The White Queen is set to premiere this summer on BBC One. The series will air stateside on Starz beginning in August 2013.
