TNT announced yesterday that their remake of the classic soap opera Dallas will be back for a third season. As most TV viewers know, the hit drama centers on the Ewing clan, an enormously wealthy Texas family whose sibling rivalries, romantic betrayals, corruption and even murder are truly legendary. The third season of ‘Dallas’ will consist of 15 episodes.
The president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), Michael Wright, had this to say about the renewal, “Dallas has built a passionately loyal following with its expertly woven storylines, clever twists and turns, and numerous outstanding performances by a cast that spans generations. Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted”.
This remake stars original cast members Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray as well as Brenda Strong (‘Desperate Housewives’) and Mitch Pileggi (‘The X-Files’) as well as the members of the younger generation of the Ewing family played by Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe (both from ‘Desperate Housewives’) as well as Jordana Brewster (‘Fast and Furious’ franchise) and Julie Gonzalo (‘Eli Stone’).
When ‘Dallas’ debuted last summer, it ranked as basic cables #1 new drama of the year and average 3.8 million viewers during its second season, which aired earlier this year.
Fans should mark their calendars for the return of ‘Dallas’ for its third season on TNT in early 2014.
