Allison Janney will guest star in a five episode arc in the Showtime series Masters of Sex. Janney is slated to play the role of Margaret Scully who is the wife of Provost Barton Scully, played by Beau Bridges.
The freshman series follows the lives of real-life pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson, played by Michael Sheen (Kingdom of Heaven) and Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield), and their studies of the science of human sexuality. The series is an adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book ‘Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love’. The pilot was both directed and executive produced by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love). Production on the first season is currently filming in Los Angeles.
Allison Janney is best known for her roles in the drama ‘The West Wing’ where she starred as White House Press Secretary CJ Cregg, the CBS pilot ‘Mom’, the Sundance film ‘Touchy Feely’, ‘The Way, Way Back’, ‘Trust Me’, ‘Bad Words’, Dreamworks’ ‘Mr. Peabody & Sherman’, ‘The Oranges’, ‘Liberal Arts’ opposite Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) and ‘Struck By Lightning’.
