Back in January we reported here that actress Jennifer Esposito would not be returning to the Friday night cop drama Blue Bloods; and, of course, the speculation was on who would be filling that void.
Well, wonder no longer as Deadline has announced that actress Marisa Ramirez , who most recently starred in the short-lived cop drama ‘Against the Wall’ over on Lifetime, will be joining the cast of the Tom Selleck-led series as a new (albeit temporary) partner for Detective Danny Reagan (series regular Donnie Wahlberg). According to the report, she will appear in a five-episode arc playing Detective Maria Baez. There is word that this recurring role could potentially continue into next season where she could become a regular part of the cast.
Ramirez will first appear in this Friday’s episode of ‘Blue Bloods’, making her the third temporary partner for Detective Reagan so far this season. Actresses Megan Ketch and Megan Boone were his previous temporary partners.
Among Ramirez’s other TV credits are the daytime soaps ‘General Hospital’ and ‘The Young and the Restless’ as well as a role in the short-lived shows ‘Miracles’ and ‘Mental’ and guest roles in shows like ‘Castle’, ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Without a Trace’. More recently she appeared in episodes of ‘Spartacus: Gods of the Arena’ and ‘Body of Proof’ as well as the made-for-TV movie ‘Prosecuting Casey Anthony’.
Again, the next new episode of ‘Blue Bloods’, now in its third season, will air on CBS this Friday, May 8 at 10/9c.
