Thanks to the folks over at Deadline, fans of the USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs can be excited about a new addition to the series when it returns for its fourth season later this year in the form of ‘CSI: NY’ alum Hill Harper.
The season (and possible series finale – since CBS has yet to pick-up the spin-off series for another season) of ‘CSI: NY’ will air tonight on CBS and word has it that Harper’s contract with the show was up at the end of this season, making it possible for him to move on to a new project. It is said that Harper is a fan of ‘Covert Affair’s and has a connection to the show’s creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord, as three men went to Brown University.
Harper will play “an ambitious CIA station chief based in Latin America who is plotting his way into a bigger position back in Washington”, seeking the help of Annie (series lead Piper Perabo) and Auggie (series regular Christopher Gorman), but “his questionable actions will cause them to doubt his intentions”.
The fourth season of ‘Covert Affairs’, which will consist of 16 episodes, is currently filming in Toronto and will pick up right where the season finale left off with Annie and Auggie finally admitting their feelings for each other, but things “get complicated when Annie aligns herself with Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin) in a dangerous, covert mission involving Arthur (series regular Peter Gallagher) and Auggie that has potentially scandalous consequences for the CIA”.
An official return date for ‘Covert Affairs’ has yet to be announced by the USA Network.
