Model turned actress Tricia Helfer first caught the attention of TV viewers thanks to her captivating roles in the reboot of ‘Battlestar Galactica’; and since that time she has become a much in-demand actress for TV and made-for-TV movies. Her latest work will be in the ABC pilot Killer Women that is based on the Argentinean drama Mujeres Asesians.
Helfer will play lead character Molly Parker, the only woman in the notoriously male Texas Rangers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Molly is described as “the ballsy, beautiful badass who knows how to get to the truth and isn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers on her way there. The sheriff’s daughter has a doctorate in gender studies as well as a Miss Texas crown from 1992. She was hand-picked to be one of the two Texas female Rangers and is a forensic specialist, an interrogation ace and can shoot with deadly precision. Her personal life, meanwhile, is a mess — as the recently divorced Molly now lives with her older brother Billy, and her two rowdy nieces”.
Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara will executive producer the potential series along with Martin Campbell, who is set to direct the pilot. Hannah Shakespeare (The Raven) will write the script for ABC Studios, Electus and Latin World Entertainment.
Among Helfer’s TV credits are guest roles on ‘Supernatural’, ‘Chuck, ‘Warehouse 13′, ‘Human Target’, ‘No Ordinary Family’, ‘Lie to Me’, ‘Franklin & Bash’, recurring roles on ‘Burn Notice’ and the short-lived series ‘The Firm and a series regular role on ‘Dark Blue’. She also appeared in the made-for-TV movies ‘Mistletoe Over Manhattan’ and ‘Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie’s Angels’.
It is too soon to know if ABC will move forward with the ‘Killer Women’ pilot or any of the other network’s pilots; but a final decision will be made during the May upfronts in New York.
