Beauty and the Beast Season 1 Review “Trust No One”

Beauty and the Beast really pushed the Muirfield plot forward this week with ‘Trust No One’. It saw Cat attempting to keep Alex off Muirfield’s radar, Vincent trying to woo Cat, and, eventually, Alex being convinced by Claire (Evan’s girlfriend/Muirfield lackey) to ‘help’ Vincent by turning him over to Muirfield.

Her plan failed, of course, but not before we were given more evidence of how awful Muirfield are as the bad guys on this show. If they really wanted to find Alex, they could have looked at her credit card records, like Cat did. Supposedly they want to find her to lead them to Vincent, but they could have just followed him home from her apartment one day, weeks earlier, rather than set up half-assed captures in hotel rooms with only one agent on the scene.

Vincent is no smarter. One of his romantic gestures was setting up a flash mob to declare his love for Catherine. Surely he must know that flash mobs are caught on camera by the public and plastered over youtube? Given that they both want Cat kept as far under the radar as her lifestyle/job will allow, it seems a pretty dumb thing to do.

Also, how has Muirfield not linked her to Vincent yet and followed him from her home? It’s not like he isn’t there all the time. He was back there again this week. Heather caught them about to kiss. Awkwaaaard.

Meanwhile, Tess caught Cat taking evidence out of the notebook of a deceased journalist — one that Alex had spoken to. The evidence mentioned both Alex and Muirfield, so Cat couldn’t explain her actions to Tess. Now Tess wants a new partner. I can’t help feeling this can only be a good thing; it’s amazing either of them get any work done, they spend so much time talking about each other’s love lives.

Muirfield even got a step closer to Cat this week, with Evan being roped in to the organization against his will. This sets up some intrigue: will Evan, who is already suspicious about how much Cat knows, protect her? Or will he investigate further, learn about her association with Vincent and then tell Muirfield? Only time will tell…

Overall, an interesting episode. Muirfield are incredibly lame bad guys, though. We need proper reasons for them not having found Vincent by now, and quickly!

I totally agree that Muirfield, for all their sinister-ness, are pretty inept. And, they had Alex lure Vincent to the hotel, and the agent was not already there?? What? I’m not evne a secret operative, and i know better than that.

I will put money on Kat and Tess not really breaking up……
