The Disney Channel has officially ordered the pilot for Girl Meets World, TV Line has revealed. The network has also signed young actress Rowan Blanchard to play the title character of the spin-off that is conceived from the 90′s family series ‘Boy Meets World’.
The 11-year-old Blanchard is somewhat unknown and joins the already cast Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel. Both actors appeared as Cory and Topanga in the original more than 10 years ago and will return as the parents of Blanchard’s alter ego. Sharing details over the upcoming reboot, Fishel recently confirmed on Tumblr that fans can expect “familiar faces, familiar themes and familiar messages.”
Now that the trio of Fishel, Savage and Blanchard have been secured, Disney is sure to be filling out the rest of the cast. It has been revealed that the series will kick off production sometime in February.
Rowan Blanchard’s credits include several roles in the film ‘Spy Kids: All the Time in the World’, ‘The Back-Up Plan’, ‘Dance-A-Lot Robot’ as the regular character Caitlin. She has also starred in the TV Movie ‘Little in Common’ and ‘Piper’s QUICK Picks’.
