Last July we reported here that actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers (‘Bend It Like Beckham’ and ‘The Tudors’) would be starring in the new NBC series Dracula, playing the legendary vampire, who arrives in London, posing as American entrepreneur named Alan Grayson who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, though, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with Mina Murray (Jessica De Gouw from ‘Arrow’) who appears to be the reincarnation of his dead wife.
Now news comes down from the folks at Deadline that ‘Merlin’ alum Katie McGrath has joined the cast of the 10-episode series, playing Lucy Westenra, Aristocratic London’s sexy, social butterfly and Mina’s best friend who has a penchant for gossip, flirting and all things glamorous.
Ironically, among Katie’s other credits are a guest appearance on ‘The Tudors’, the British comedy mini-series ‘The Roaring Twenties’ and the Hallmark Channel made-for-TV movie ‘A Princess for Christmas’.
Casting is still ongoing for ‘Dracula’, which has not been given an official airdate as of yet.
