The new Cinemax drama Banshee only debuted back on January 11 but it has already been given a second season order by the cabler.
‘Banshee’ stars Antony Starr (‘Rush’) as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania where he continues his criminal activities, even as he’s hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier. Other cast members of the new drama include Ivana Milicevic (‘Mind of the Married Man’), Frankie Faison (‘The Wire’), Ulrich Thomsen (‘The Celebration’), Hoon Lee (‘Premium Rush’), Rus Blackwell (‘Burn Notice’), Matt Servitto (‘The Sopranos’), Demetrius Grosse (‘Justified’), Trieste Kelly Dunn (‘Brothers and Sisters’), Ryann Shane (‘Blue Bloods’), Daneil Ross Owens (‘Prison Break’), Lili Simmons (‘Fat Kid Rules the World’) and Ben Cross (‘Star Trek’).
The series is executive produced by Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler, Peter Macdissi, Alan Ball and Greg Yaitanes; and has been called “taut, entertaining and smart,” by The Hollywood Reporter and “enticing” and “indisputably satisfying” by the Wall Street Journal.
The next new episode in the 10-episode debut run of ‘Banshee’ is set to air on Cinemax on Friday, February 1 at 10/9c.
