Update: FOX has officially stopped production on Ben and Kate, which would confirm its cancellation.
The Fox network has pulled Ben and Kate from its schedule, TV Line has learned. By the looks of it the freshman series is headed for cancellation with the network yet to make an announcement. Per an insider that spoke with TV Line, the show is slated to make a return in the near future. But after debuting back in the September with an 18 episode order in the bag, Ben and Kate have officially halted production with filming stopped on the show’s 16th episode.
In the meantime the comedy’s time slot will be filled with episodes of ‘Raising Hope’ and ‘New Girl’ in the Tuesday night line-up until ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ debuts in March.
‘Ben and Kate’ comes from creator Dana Fox (New Girl, Couples Retreat). The series followed lead actors and Dakota Johnson (21 Jump Street) and Nat Faxon (Bad Teacher) as a brother and sister who ends up under the same roof once again after life throws them a series of curve balls. Together the two raise Kate’s daughter Maddie (Maggie Elizabeth Jones) while trying to make their way through the ups and downs of adulthood.
