The folks over at Entertainment Weekly have given the fans of Arrow a “spoiler” they will want to know about in advance. ‘Doctor Who’ favorite actress Alex Kingston has come on board the show in the recurring role of Dinah Lance, the mother of Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and ex-wife to Detective Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne).

It seems Mama Lance is returning to Starling City to “make amends with her family (who) she abandoned years earlier” after the tragic death of daughter Sarah, who was one of the victims of the Queens’ Gambit, the luxury yacht that went down at sea presumably along with billionaire Robert Queen and his son Oliver (series lead Stephen Amell).

Besides her recurring role of River Song on the worldwide hit ‘Doctor Who’, Kingston spent years on the long-running medical drama ‘ER’ as well as appearing in the made-for-TV movie ‘Lost in Austen’, the mini-series ‘Upstairs Downstairs’ as well as episodes of the short lived ‘FlashForward’, ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, ‘Private Practice’ and most recently an episode of ‘NCIS’.

Fans can expect to see Kingston later this season, but for now the next new episode of the debut season of ‘Arrow’ will air on The CW tomorrow, Wednesday, January 23 at 8/7c.
