Jeremy Piven “Makes Shopping Thrilling” in New ‘Mr. Selfridge’ Trailer [Video]

A magnificently mustachioed Jeremy Piven (Entourage) takes center stage in ITV 1’s Mr. Selfridge trailer. Created by Andrew Davies (Little Dorrit), the ten episode drama series will see Piven stepping into the shoes of Harry Gordon Selfridge, the real life founder of the famous London department store, who transformed shopping from a chore into an experience. The series is set in 1909 London, and the period setting provides the trailer with enough lush visuals and energy to have Downton Abbey fans salivating.

If you’re planning on tuning in for the Piven factor, it doesn’t disappoint on that front either. Only Piven could pour that much passion into a speech about shopping. (Or say the word “razzmatazz” with that much conviction.) In addition to Piven, the series also stars Frances O’Connor (Cashmere Mafia), Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street) and Gregory Fitoussi (G. I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra).

Mr. Selfridge debuts this January on ITV 1 in the UK, before making its American debut Sunday, March, 31st on PBS. Are you eager to see Piven’s return to television or is the memory of Ari Gold still too fresh in your mind to accept him as an exuberant, turn of the century shop owner?
