For five seasons actress Rose McGowan starred as half-witch/half-whitelighter Paige Matthews on the long-running WB (now The CW) series ‘Charmed’.
Now, according to Deadline, McGowan will make a guest appearance on the popular ABC fairytale drama Once Upon a Time, playing the younger version of Cora, the mother of the Evil Queen (aka Regina Mills) [played by Lana Parrilla].
As viewers of the fan favorite series know, Cora is, of course, portrayed by award-winning actress Barbara Hershey, who along with Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) seemingly made their way to Storybrooke in the mid-season finale. What awaits the inhabitants of the sleepy little town in Maine with the arrival of these two unwanted and unwelcomed guests is anyone’s guess; but what is known is that McGowan will be featured in an origin episode focusing on young Cora.
McGowan got her start in such films as ‘Jawbreaker’, ‘Scream’ and ‘Monkeybone’ before landed her role on ‘Charmed’. Since then she has appeared in the Quentin Tarentino film ‘Death Proof’ and the Robert Rodriguez films ‘Planet Terror’ and ‘Grindhouse’ as well as the recent ‘Conan the Barbarian’ reboot. On TV she recently had a recurring role on ‘Nip/Tuck’ and the lead role in the made-for-TV movie ‘The Pastor’s Wife’.
‘Once Upon a Time’ will be back on ABC with new episodes of its second season starting on Sunday, January 6 at 8/7c.
