As David Tennant’s triumphant return to our American television screens via Spies of Warsaw inches ever closer, BBC America is beginning to dole out teasers for the pre-WWII era mini-series. The cable channel has released a tiny, 15 second preview, which brief though it is, will get your blood pumping all the same thanks to striking images of a woman facing an oncoming train, a strangely calm voice intoning, “Try not to get caught because technically speaking, you’re a spy, who could be shot,” and some impressive knife-wielding skills displayed by Tennant.
Based on a novel by Alan Furst, Spies of Warsaw will star Tennant and Janet Montgomery (Black Swan) as a pair of lovers whose lives are complicated by the approaching war. The story will move between Poland, Paris, London and Berlin, as former war hero Colonel Jean-Francois Mercier (Tennant) finds himself in the spy game, and falls in love with Anna (Montgomery), “a Parisian lawyer for the League of Nations.” Check out the preview below. Are you excited for Tennant’s return?
Spies of Warsaw will have a two-night premiere beginning Wednesday, February 6th and concluding Wednesday, February 13th on BBC America.
