Veep Actress Anna Chlumsky to Guest Star in New Thriller Series ‘Hannibal’

Since this past June when we reported here that Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (‘Casino Royale’) would be starring as legendary serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lechter in the new thriller series Hannibal from the creative mind of Bryan Fuller (the man behind ‘Pushing Daisies’ and ‘Wonderfalls’), there has been a steady progression of cast members, as reported here, here and here, joining what is assuredly going to be a much-buzzed-about show for NBC.

Now comes word from TV Line that ‘Veep’ actress Anna Chlumsky will be making a guest appearance in the mid-season drama. She will play Miriam Lass, a young FBI trainee under the tutelage of Jack Crawford (to be played by Laurence Fishburne).

‘Hannibal’ will take a contemporary look at the characters from the “Red Dragon” novel by Thomas Harris, focusing on the relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy from ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic and ‘The Big C’) and his first mentor Dr. Lechter.

Chlumsky made her film debut in the acclaimed box office movie ‘My Girl’, but in recent years she has had guest appearances in TV shows like ‘Covert Affairs’, ‘White Collar’, ‘Army Wives’ and the short-lived remake of ‘Cupid’. She also appeared in the made-for-TV movies ’12 Men of Christmas’ and ‘Three Weeks, Three Kids’.

An official airdate has yet to be set by NBC for the debut of ‘Hannibal’, but it is expected towards the end of this current TV season (with the possibility of airing this summer).
