Matthew Lillard Joins FX’s ‘The Bridge’ November 15, 2012 FX, News Best known for his work as Shaggy in the ‘Scooby-Doo’ franchise, actor Matthew Lillard may be coming to the small screen each week in a new series entitled The Bridge on FX. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lillard has been tapped to play Daniel Frye, a less than respectable journalist for the El Paso Times in the crime drama that chronicles a US detective and his Mexican partner who team up to take down a serial killer working on both sides of the border. Actors Demian Bichir (A Better Life) and Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) will play partners. ‘The Bridge’, derived from the Scandinavian crime drama, comes from Meredith Stiehm of ‘Homeland’ fame and Elwood Reid (Hawaii Five-0) who will both executive produce the project. Carolyn Bernstein, Lars Blomgren and Jane Featherstone will also join the duo. Gerardo Naranjo will direct the series with production currently underway. Matthew Lillard brings with him credits that include ‘Robot Chicken’ where he has played the role of multiple characters, ‘Samurai! Daycare’ as Ned, TNT’s ‘Leverage’, the 2012 film ‘Trouble with the Curve’, ‘Home Run Showdown’, ‘Abominable Christmas’, ‘From the Head’, ‘Mad’, ‘The Descendants’ as Brian Speer, ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’ and more.
