‘Game of Thrones’ Season 3 Poster Confirms Premiere Date

Fear not Game of Thrones fans, spring is coming and it’s bringing with it a third season of HBO’s addictive fantasy drama. A teaser poster for season three was revealed on the official Game of Thrones Facebook page yesterday, and while it features little more than a stark, gray background, it did confirm the new season’s start date: on March 31st, the long Game of Thrones-less winter will come to an end.

What will the new season bring? That grim background on the poster may reveal more about the tone of season three than you might think. The trio of swords in the zero nods to the title of the third book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Song of Swords. As for that hard, gray background–well, as Old Nan would say, “Oh sweet summer child, what do you know of fear?” In other words, things are about to get dark(er) in Westeros.

Season three of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, March 31st, 2013 on HBO.
