It seems that enough TV viewers have tuned into to the new NBC drama Chicago Fire because the network just gave the show a full season pick-up order, which means the series will air 22 episodes this TV season.
‘Chicago Fire’ follows the lives of the firefighters and paramedics working at the Chicago Fire Department, including cast members Jesse Spencer (House), Taylor Kinney (The Vampire Diaries), Lauren German (Hawaii Five-0), Monica Raymund (Lie to Me), Eamonn Walker (Kings), David Eigenberg (Sex and the City), Teri Reeves (General Hospital), Merle Dandridge (Sons of Anarchy) and newcomer Charlie Barnett.
While ‘Revolution’ was the first new drama picked up by NBC, the Dick Wolf-produced ‘Chicago Fire’ was under-performing until last week when it scored in the ratings thanks, in great part, to its lead-in that night, the mega-powerhouse competition series ‘The Voice’. The series to date has been averaging 8 million viewers and has been battling it out in the 10 PM time slot on Wednesday nights with ‘CSI’ and newcomer ‘Nashville’.
Jennifer Salke, NBC Entertainment President had this to share, “We all love this thrilling new drama with its sexy breakout cast. We are excited to see it gaining traction on our schedule. Executive producer Dick Wolf and all the producers have done an amazing job developing a high-stakes series with lots of great heroic characters whose exploits are depicted in Dick’s typically epic storytelling style. We are incredibly invested in this one and can’t wait to hear about their plans for the back nine”.
The next new episode of ‘Chicago Fire’ will air on NBC on Wednesday, November 14 at 10/9c. [Source: Entertainment Weekly]
