Cartoon Network has announced their decision to renew both the Regular Show and The Amazing World of Gumball, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The pick-up of the ‘Regular Show’ will bring the JG Quintel (The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack) created series into its fifth year on the network. The Emmy award winning animation centers on “a six-foot-tall blue jay Mordecai and a hyperactive raccoon Rigby, who work as groundskeepers at a park.” The series stars Quintel, William Slayers (Bedazzled), Sam Marin (Adventure Time) and Mark Hamill (Robot Chicken). Actors Ed Asner (The Cleveland Show) and Thomas Haden Church (Zombie Roadkill) were also recently announced to be part of the upcoming ‘Regular Show’s’ Holiday episode. Asner will guest star as Santa Claus while Church has signed on to play a rogue elf.
Meanwhile, ‘The Amazing World of Gumball” will debut its fourth season after getting the green light for a whole new season of adventures with 12-year-old Gumball and his family who live in Elmore. The UK original that has been adapted for the U.S., comes from creator Benjamin Bocquelet (The Hells Kitchen). Logan Grove (Young Justice), Kwesi Boakye (The Looney Tunes Show), Dan Russell (Lazy Lucy) and Kyla Rae Kowalewski (Adventure Time) all star in the series.
