‘Beauty And the Beast’ Receives Full Season Order from The CW

It was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW that new drama Beauty And the Beast, which is loosely based on the 1980’s classic of the same name, has been given a full season order.

The series stars Kristin Kruek of ‘Smallville’ fame as Catherine Chandler who witnesses the brutal murder of her mother by two gunmen nine years ago. She would have been killed too if not for some sort of “being” saving her life. Now, as a NYPD detective, Catherine discovers that presumed dead Dr. Vincent Keller (series lead Jay Ryan from ‘Terra Nova’) is the one who saved her, but he has been living in hiding for 10 years after serving in Afghanistan and being part of a secret corps of soldiers who were experimented on. Those experiments have turned him into the “being” (or Beast) that saved her life.

The cast includes Max Brown (‘The Tudors’), Nina Lisandrello (‘Nurse Jackie’), Nicole Gale Anderson (‘Make It or Break It’), Austin Basis (‘Life Unexpected’) and Brian White (‘Moonlight’).

The series has been averaging 2.4 million viewers since its debut last month, but saw an upsurge in viewership with its latest airing (from this past Thursday), and will now have a full season in which to prove itself.

The next new episode of ‘Beauty And the Beast’ will air on The CW next Thursday, November 15 at 9/8c. [Source: TV By the Numbers]
