Originally produced for a theatrical release by the Academy Award-winning producer of The Hurt Locker Nicolas Chartier, the film received a preemptive bid by National Geographic Channel (NGC) for it to premiere on their channel. The film is distributed by The Weinstein Company, known for their exquisite films such as The Artist, and is NGC’s s first broadcast of a feature film inspired by real-life events. The movie will make its world premiere tonight, November 4th at 8pm on on the National Geographic Channel and will then be available to watch on Netflix 24 hours after the premiere, so if you’re a member and you aren’t able to watch it tonight, make sure to add it to your queue. So what is SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden about? Well, as you probably guessed it explores the events that lead to the death of Osama bin Laden as seen through the eyes of a team of seasoned U.S. Navy SEALs and the people in the CIA that made the attack possible. While some aspects of the film have been dramatized a bit, the core elements have been vetted by a team of experts including a recently retired Navy SEAL, a top CIA operative and one of the most renowned bin Laden historians. The movie was directed by John Stockwell (Into the Blue, Turistas) and stars an amazing cast including Cam Gigandet (Twilight), Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), Freddy Rodriquez (Ugly Betty, Six Feet Under), Xzibit, Kathleen Robertson (Boss), Eddie Kay Thomas (How To Make It In America, American Pie), Kenneth Miller (The Lying Game), Robert Knepper (Cult, Prison Break) and William Fichtner (Entourage, Prison Break).
