Brace yourself Sex and the City fans: you’re about to hear Carrie Bradshaw narrating her Manhattan adventures again. The CW has released a trailer for their upcoming Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, and it’s full of young Carrie musing about life, love and the best night of her life. Even though Sarah Jessica Parker’s dulcet tones have been replaced with AnnaSophia Robb’s, Carrie’s descriptions of New York City are as sweeping as ever.
The series picks up in 1984 with a teenaged Carrie returning to school after losing her mother. To help his daughter work through her grief, Carrie’s father sets her up with an internship in Manhattan where Carrie meets Interview magazine editor, Larissa (Freema Agyeman). Larissa introduces Carrie to the worlds of fashion and Manhattan night life that will come to define her adulthood. Watch the trailer for yourself below and don’t forget to check out the recently released cast photos.
The Carrie Diaries will premiere January 2013 on The CW.
