Art will imitate life next year when actress Gina Torres, known for her current role of Jessica Pearson on the USA Network legal drama ‘Suits’, will have a recurring role as the wife of Jack Crawford – to be played by her real-life husband Laurence Fishburne – in the upcoming NBC thriller series Hannibal.
The series is based on the characters from the Thomas Harris novel “Red Dragon” and will center on the budding relationship between FBI Agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy from ‘The Big C’) and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen from ‘The Three Musketeers’).
Torres was, of course, part of the cast for the cult classic series ‘Firefly’ and its follow-up box office film ‘Serenity’. She also appeared in TV shows like ‘Angel’, ‘Cleopatra 2525′, ’24′, ‘Alias’ as well as the short-lived series ‘Standoff’ and ‘Huge’.
It should be noted this recurring role on ‘Hannibal’ will not affect her regular series role on ‘Suits’.
‘Hannibal’ comes from the creative mind of Bryan Fuller, the man behind TV shows such as ‘Pushing Daisies’, Dead Like Me’ and ‘Wonderfalls’. It is expected to debut on NBC during mid-season next year. [Source: TV Line]
