Last week the folks behind FX’s hit horror series, American Horror Story, threw a party to celebrate the release of the season 1 DVD and TV Equals was there to join in on all the spooky fun.
The American Horror Story season 1 DVD comes out today and the four-disc set promises features that every fan of the show should enjoy, including:
- Audio Commentary on Pilot Episode by Ryan Murphy
- Behind The Fright: The Making of ‘American Horror Story’
- The Murder House presented by Eternal Darkness Tours of Hollywood
- On the Set of ‘American Horror Story’ season one
- Overture to Horror: Creating the Title Sequence
- Out of the Shadows: Meet the House Ghosts
To prepare for the release of the DVD, a bunch of reporters and fans were invited out to the famous Hollywood Forever Cemetery for an evening of haunting fun. First up, we were loaded up on buses for a special “Eternal Darkness Tour” hosted by “Stan the Tour Guide.” But we weren’t alone, when jumping on board we saw that a very special visitor was waiting for us in the back of the van: Rubber Man. It’s possible that some of us may have even screamed at the sight of our guest sitting silently in the back of the van, but I won’t swear to it.

Then we were on our way to see the famous Murder House itself and though we were allowed to jump out and get some pictures, I for one was glad that we didn’t actually get to go inside. Who knows if anyone would’ve come back?
After that we gathered back at the cemetery for a party with cocktails (served in a bloody bathtub no less) and then a special Q&A with author Tom Ogden of “Haunted Hollywood” fame and medium Lisa Williams of “Soul Connections.” While I did enjoy hearing the stories of haunted Hollywood and their connections to the show, I have to say that my favorite part of the Q&A was Lisa Williams. Her stories of how she talks to those that have passed were beyond fascinating, especially when she ended up inadvertently doing a reading for a man in the audience who asked a question (apparently his loved one’s message could not wait). Once the guests were done speaking, we were treated to a special viewing of a couple of features from the season 1 DVD. All in all, it was a fun night.

American Horror Story season 2 premieres Wednesday, October 17 at 10:00 p.m. on FX. The story takes off in a completely new direction, taking us into the world of a rather demented (is there any other kind on this show?) mental institution. From what we can see in the American Horror Story: Asylum trailer it looks like the season of this series is going to be just as insane, and sexually charged, as the first. Strap yourselves in kiddies, it’s gonna be a wild ride.
