Actress Alex Kingston, who plays fan favorite Dr. River Song on ‘Doctor Who’ (“Spoilers” anyone?), will be making a visit “across the pond”, ending up with the folks over on NCIS.
According to a report at TV Guide, the former ‘ER’ vet will play Miranda Pennebaker, a shady business woman who gets tangled up with the one and only Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team. In the words of the show’s executive producer Gary Glasberg, Kingston’s character “is a woman who deals in everything from high end weapons sales to priceless gems; her connections go all the way up the ladder of D.C. politics, and Gibbs needs her for this very disturbing, emotional case”. (Hmm, that sounds quite interesting, doesn’t it?)
Kingston’s other TV credits include the short-lived ABC drama ‘FlashForward’, several episodes of ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ and ‘Private Practice’ as well as the British series ‘Hope Springs’ and the mini-series ‘Lost in Austen’. She will also be seen in the soon-to-air-on-PBS mini-series ‘Upstairs Downstairs’.
The next new episode of ‘NCIS’, which is now in its 10th season on CBS, will air on Tuesday, October 9 at 8/7c.
