Showtime has picked up a third season of the Matt LeBlanc comedy Episodes. The network’s President of Entertainment, David Nevins, made the official announcement. The series is scheduled to begin production in 2013 with nine new episodes ordered.
The renewal comes after ‘Episodes’ second season managed to secure an average of 1.66 million viewers each week on the paid cable network. The show that comes from co-creators David Crane (Friends) and Jeffrey Klarik (Mad About You, The Class) follows the dramatic and colorful performer Matt LeBlanc as well as the UK producing duo Sean (played by Stephen Mangan) and Beverly Lincoln (actress Tamsin Greig).
‘Episodes’ also includes actress Kathleen Rose Perkins (Royal Pains), John Pankow (Mad About You) and Mircea Monroe (The Change-Up). The three-time Emmy nominated series that has been praised for its hilarious script has gained notoriety in the categories for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. The comedy, from executive producers Crane, Klarik and Jimmy Mulville, also managed to score a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical.
