French Hunk Gilles Marini Promoted to Series Regular on ‘Switched at Birth’

Ever since capturing movie goers’ attention in the 2008 ‘Sex and the City’ box office film, French actor Gilles Marini has been building quite a resume of TV roles. His latest role on the ABC Family drama Switched at Birth has just garnered him a promotion to series regular.

The family drama follows Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc), teenagers from two very different families and backgrounds, who have learned they were – as the title of the show explains – switched at birth. Marini has been recurring as Bay’s biological dad, Angelo.

Marini first made his way onto TV in small guest appearances in the TV shows ‘Ugly Betty’, ‘Passions’, ‘Criminal Minds’ and ‘ Dirty Sexy Money’. Later he had guest roles in ‘Castle’, ‘Royal Pains’ and ‘Nip/Tuck’ before landing a role on ‘Brothers & Sisters’. Reality viewers will also recognize him for his spin (pun-intended) on ‘Dancing With the Stars’. He will also be showing up in the All-Star version of the dancing competition that is set to air this fall on ABC.

The next new episode of ‘Switched at Birth’ – which is actually still in its debut season – an extended season at that – will air on ABC Family this Monday, September 17 at 8/c. [Source: Deadline]
